Another important ritual is the "Kanyadaanam" ceremony, in which the bride's father gives her hand in marriage to the groom. This is followed by the "Mangalya Dharanam" ceremony, in which the groom ties a sacred thread, called the "mangalsutra", around the bride's neck to signify their union.
There are also several other customs and traditions that take place during a Tamil wedding, such as the "Oonjal" swing ceremony, the "Kumkum Archana" ceremony, and the "Saptapadi" ritual, where the couple takes seven vows and walks around the sacred fire.
